Property managed by One Big Sustainable IslandEverything was absolutely perfect and just as described. The Oaktagon was spacious, had everything you needed, and had beautiful views. Stargazing was beautiful and cooking was both easy and entertaining. Kent and Heather made us feel so welcome and comfortable immediately and the entire staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and made every guest feel special and important. It definitely feels remote, but we didn’t mind! Cell service was strong across whole island. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you guys so much for creating such a lovely getaway for people!!

We're delighted the space, the views, and the stargazing all delivered. There's something about cooking a meal up in the trees on a Maine lake that makes even simple dinners feel like an event, and we love that you found it entertaining as well as easy. Making every guest feel welcome and important is the part of island life they care about most, and we'll be sure they hear it. And yes, the island does feel genuinely remote, which is rather the point. Happily, Annabessacook Lake has decided to be remote and well-connected at the same time. We put a lot of thought into the details so that families can arrive, climb up into the trees, and have everything they need waiting for them. The island is the perfect blend of remote and accessible. The limited number of free ferries actually makes it easier to disconnect from mainland life (aka the grind) and just be present on the island (safe in the knowledge that in the event of an emergency, staff would spring into action to get the boats running). The oaktagon tree house was majestic, smelled amazing (100% cedar paneling) and was a short walk from the water where we watched a majestic sunrise. The toilets are clean, accessible, and super eco friendly, the "showa" warm (be prepared for an upper body workout to pressurize the water, but its super worth it after a long day of paddling around). Unlimited firewood and well cared for woodstoves make for a warm cozy night. Both staff and fellow campers were extremely accommodating, polite and friendly.
If you come in acorn season, be prepared to be pelted. All night. All day. Its like a firing range of hailstones.

Justin, thank you! "The perfect blend of remote and accessible" is exactly the balance we're always trying to strike out here. We're glad the ferry schedule worked in your favor. Limiting the crossings is one of the better ways we've found to help people step away from the grind, and it's good to know you felt looked after knowing Kent and the Reset Crew would get a boat moving if it ever mattered. The cedar in the Oaktagon Treehouse does a lot of quiet work, and pairing it with a sunrise over the water is hard to improve on. We're also glad the clean, eco-friendly facilities and the warm "showa" held up their end, even if the pressurizing does count as your second workout of the day after a long paddle around Annabessacook Lake. As for the acorns: the oaks have their own maintenance schedule and they don't consult us. Thanks for spending a weekend of island life with us, Justin. We'd love to have you back!
