We arrived later than we thought and were supposed to take the kayaks to the island, but because it was already late, Kent picked us up in the ferry. He’s very accommodating and the island is such a calm space with all the amenities to feel comfortable and connected to nature. Thank you 1BSI, we love you

Marianna, thank you! "We love you" might be the warmest sign-off we've ever received, and we're sending it right back. We're glad the ferry worked out. Paddling to the island is a lovely way to arrive, though it does lose some of its charm once the sun has clocked out for the evening, so Kent was happy to meet you at the water instead. And we're delighted Loon Point gave you that calm, comfortable, connected-to-nature feeling. That balance is exactly what we're going for out here on Annabessacook Lake: enough amenities to feel at ease, few enough distractions to actually notice where you are. A floating dome on a Maine lake comes with a few more "how does this work?" moments than your average getaway, so we try to answer the questions before you have to ask them. Kent and the staff were extremely quick with responses to questions, always friendly, and truly thought of everything that would be needed for an amazing experience. We try to think through the gear and the details ahead of time so you can arrive on the island, settle in, and get straight to the good part. Property managed by One Big Sustainable IslandStaying in the Stargazer was a magical experience, even during a storm, which was happening on the first day we arrived. While the floor of the main cabin was wet, the dome stayed dry and cozy and was beautiful to experience in the rain. We were treated with cloudy days and sunny days, and they all had something special to offer. We loved swimming (yes at the end of September) and then jumping in the sauna after! All in all, a beautiful place allowing for a truly unique, and restorative experience. We will certainly be back!

We're sorry about the wet floor in the main cabin on your arrival day, and we appreciate you mentioning it plainly. We're glad the dome itself stayed dry and cozy while the weather did its thing overhead. Watching a storm roll across Annabessacook Lake from inside the StarGazer is one of those experiences we couldn't schedule if we tried, and it sounds like the cloudy days and the sunny ones each made their own case. Swimming at the end of September and then heading straight for the sauna, though, is a particularly well-designed sequence. We're impressed. Restorative is exactly what we hope the island offers, especially once the season starts to quiet down.
