This is a beautiful little island. My husband enjoyed the ability to fish from just about every angle on shore as well as by kayak & canoe. Unlimited firewood, cooking utensils, grill, propane, linens, etc. made this an easy adventure.

Alena, thank you! We’re so glad you enjoyed your night aboard the StarGazer. “Very cool experience” is exactly what we hope for from this slightly unusual floating dome. Thanks for making the StarGazer part of your Maine adventure and for spending a night on the lake with us!

We had such a fantastic stay! This was our 2nd stay on 1BSI and certainly won’t be our last! We had a lovely paddle out and Kent had our things waiting for us on our private dock when we arrived. The houseboat was perfect with so many thoughtful touches. The fairy lights and tea lights lit up the dome so beautifully at night made for a truly unforgettable experience with the water rocking us to sleep. To anyone on the fence about booking this stay, DO IT!

Ariel, welcome back! We love that your second 1BSI adventure took you from Hammock Haven to the StarGazer. Paddling out to the island, finding your gear waiting at your private dock, and then ending the day beneath the glowing dome while the lake gently rocks you to sleep sounds like a pretty wonderful way to experience Maine. We’re especially glad you noticed all those little touches aboard the StarGazer. We can build the floating houseboat, string the fairy lights, and make the bed cozy, but the lake handles the rocking. And to anyone still on the fence, we appreciate your instructions: DO IT! Thanks for coming back to explore another corner of 1BSI, Ariel. We can’t wait to see which stay you choose for round three!

Our stay on the Star Gazer floating island was an unforgettable off-grid adventure! We booked this getaway for my son's 11th birthday, and he loved every moment—especially the campfire and s'mores. Having our own private floating sanctuary on the lake offered the perfect balance of excitement and relaxation.
We spent our days kayaking, pedal boating, fishing, and exploring hiking trails. The sunsets across the open water were pure magic. Even on a cloudier night, resting inside the dome watching the open sky while feeling the gentle rhythm of the lake waves was an out-of-this-world experience.
The dome was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. The staff was incredibly kind, communication with host Kent was seamless. Host was a very professional, helpful and kind to everyone. Special thanks to Captain Ken for the boat rides and helping shuttle all our luggage to and from the island. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and can't wait to return! It’s a best find for us ❤️

Premadevi, thank you! We can’t think of many better assignments for the StarGazer than helping an 11-year-old celebrate his birthday with an off-grid island adventure. It sounds like your family put the lake to excellent use: kayaking, pedal boating, fishing, hiking, campfires, s’mores, and sunsets. That’s an impressive amount of Maine summer squeezed into one birthday. We especially loved your description of the StarGazer as your own “private floating sanctuary.” Even when the clouds hide the stars, lying beneath the clear dome with the open sky overhead and the lake gently moving beneath you is a pretty unusual way to fall asleep. Thank you, too, for the wonderful words about Kent, Captain Ken, and the Reset Crew. We want getting humans and their gear onto an island to be the least adventurous part of the adventure. We’re honored you chose the StarGazer for such a special family getaway. Happy 11th birthday to your young explorer, and we hope we’ll welcome the whole expedition back!
